Welcome to the Torellio Blog

Why we built an AI crossword generator, what's coming, and how to get the most out of it.

Crosswords are old. The first one ran in the New York World in 1913, a diamond-shaped grid with thirty-something clues. Newspapers picked them up, then dropped them, then picked them up again. They have survived radio, television, the internet, and one global pandemic. Not bad for a Sunday paper time-killer.

What Torellio adds is choice. The classic newspaper crossword gives you whatever theme the editor felt like that morning. We let you pick: Greek mythology, capital cities, Nintendo characters, the names of your nieces. Type it in, wait a few seconds, get a real crossword you can solve, share, or print.

What's in the box

  • Generate any theme — type a few words, get a playable grid in seconds.
  • A new daily puzzle — one shared puzzle every day, fresh theme, solve it with everyone else.
  • PDF export — every puzzle downloads as a clean A4 with grid, clues, and a separate answer key. Made for classrooms.
  • Share links — every puzzle gets its own URL. Send it to anyone.

What's coming

More themed daily puzzles. A bigger blog. Hopefully — eventually — a cryptic-clue mode for the people who like their hints sideways.

If you'd like to suggest a theme, find a bug, or just say hello, the contact links are on the about page.

Now go make a puzzle. We promise it's fast.
